“I get pre-dressed,” Stephen Dixon teases as he follows Breakfast co-star Ellie Costello into the GB News makeup area in their exclusive tour for GB News members.
The GB News fan-favourites took time out of their schedule on Thursday morning to share with members a unique insight into what exactly goes in to getting them ready for screens at 6am.
“This is my throne,” Ellie quips as she takes her seat on the chair inside the GB News makeup studio. “I sit here, usually for about an hour and a half, it’s a very intensive job…”
“It’s crazy,” Stephen jokes before he delves into his post-show routine.

Stephen reveals: “It’s nice to decompress a little bit after a show because although we have a lot of fun and we have a good giggle which is important… but actually it’s very intensive.”
Shedding light on the perils of live TV, Stephen adds: “Things go wrong all the time, bits of tech fail, the links go down, all that sort of thing so you’re constantly on your feet.
“So it’s nice to have a bit of a giggle afterwards and chill,” Stephen admits before Ellie reveals the secrets of what goes on behind the scenes after a show.
“We usually go for a little bit of a debrief… There’s a coffee shop upstairs so we usually go have a bit of a chat about how the show is but also not to talk about work!”
As the chat unfolds, Stephen and Ellie discuss the importance of maintaining a friendship off-camera, Ellie’s bread-baking troubles at home and why they want YOU to share your thoughts on the show.
