Gary Glitter, 79, has been denied parole and will remain jailed after a Parole Board ruled on his bid to be freed.
The paedophile singer was released halfway through a 16-year sentence in February last year but was back in jail six weeks later.
Glitter had breached his licence conditions after allegedly looking and downloading images of children.
The Parole Board’s ruling reads: “After considering the circumstances of his offending, the lack of progress made while in custody and on licence, and the other evidence presented at the hearing, the panel was not satisfied that release at this point would be safe for the protection of the public.

“Rather, the panel considered that Mr Gadd was appropriately located in custody where outstanding levels of risk could be addressed.
“He will be eligible for another parole review in due course.”
Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, was jailed in 2015 for sexually abusing three schoolgirls at the height of his fame.
The 79-year-old had been a chart-topping artist in the 1970s with hits like Rock and Roll and Rock On.

His imprisonment in 2015 was for sexually abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980.
Two of the girls were 13 and 13 when they were invited backstage by Glitter at a show and isolated from their parents.
Glitter also got into the bed of his third victim who was under the age of 10 at the time.
He proceeded to try and rape the third victim.
