Victoria Mary Clarke, the widow of The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan, has taken to social media to share a touching tribute to her late husband.
MacGowan died of pneumonia on November 30, 2023, at his home in Dublin having spent much of the year in hospital.
His funeral took place in his hometown of Nenagh after his coffin was borne through Dublin’s streets with thousands of fans and well-wishes gathering to share their tributes.
Bob Geldof, Johnny Depp and Aidan Gillen were just three of the famous faces who attended the ceremony.
Nearly three months on and facing the prospect of a first Valentine’s Day without her other half, Clarke has updated her followers with how she’s doing.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Clarke shared a video of MacGowan from their Dublin home as she paid tribute to the singer ahead of February 14.

In the video, MacGowan can be seen singing Clarke’s name from his armchair as he hummed to his own tune.
Clarke can be heard joining in the fun, asking MacGowan who the “best” is which prompted him to belt out her name.
The joyful clip was accompanied by a caption from Clarke on February 12 which read: “I feel like an absolute blubbering wreck today and it’s not even Valentine’s yet!”
Before long, Clarke was inundated with support from her followers, all of whom commended the Pogues singer for the adorable snippet.
Clarke replied with a series of love heart emojis to several fans, including one X user who’d replied: “God Bless each and every Day, may he and all those that love you help give you the daily strength to carry on, get through and flourish again over the gentle course of time. Love conquers all.”
A second echoed: “Bless you … I can only imagine how hard it is for you, I am sure his love and strength will surround you … if anyone can break that wall between heaven and earth, I’m damn sure it’ll be him.”
“Oh Victoria, what a beautiful man. Shane’s beautiful soul is around you every day,” a third added.
While a fourth supported: “The pain you’re feeling now is the receipt for the love you two shared. It must have been BIG. It must BE big—Shane’s here with you now in spirit forever and always.”
