Comedian and radio host Matt Forde has given a health update after being forced to cancel a string of gigs following his recent cancer diagnosis.
Forde, 41, who hosts Rock ‘N’ Roll Football on Absolute Radio, revealed late last year he would need to undergo surgery for a spine tumour.
This week, Chelmsford Theatre announced on Forde’s behalf on Thursday that his upcoming show at the venue would have to be postponed.
Updating fans on his Matt Forde: Inside No. 10 show, he announced via a statement with the theatre: “Hello there. Unfortunately, my show on Sat 16 Mar at Chelmsford Theatre has been postponed and explained he couldn’t walk at the moment.
“As you may be aware, I was diagnosed with cancer at the end of last year. If you weren’t aware, I’m sorry you’ve had to find out this way.
“I had surgery a few months ago and was recently discharged from hospital.

“The operation was a success, but because it involved the base of my spine being removed, I’m now learning to walk and stand again.
“You can probably see where this is heading. It’s quite hard to be a stand-up comedian if you can’t stand up.
“Luckily for me, this is only a temporary problem and I’ll literally be back on my feet soon and mocking politicians on right, left and centre.
“I can’t wait to perform at Chelmsford Theatre. A new date will be announced soon and your ticket will remain valid. For any problems please contact the Box Office.”

Forde concluded: “Thank God this has happened at the start of what promises to be a quiet year here and in America. Thanks, Matt.”
Thankfully, Forde seems confident he should be back on his feet in the future despite his current inability to walk.
After announcing the initial diagnosis in October last year, the comedian thanked fans for their support but admitted he felt “young” to be dealing with such a significant health issue.
“I’m overwhelmed by all your messages,’ he wrote X, formerly Twitter, adding: “Thank you so much.

“I know the hardest stuff is still to come but my advice so far is: if you have something wrong, go to the doctor. Catch it early.”
He quickly received messages of support from fans and fellow presenters, including ITV’s Ben Shephard, who penned: “Good luck with the treatment and will look forward to your dulcet squeaks and yelps back on the airwaves in no time.
“Sending tons of positive vibes,” the ITV GMB star signed off.
