The Hairy Bikers legend Dave Myers has been candid with fans about his cancer battle since he was diagnosed in 2022.
One half of the popular chef duo, Myers has since been back at work with his co-star Si King despite undergoing several rounds of chemotherapy.
In a new interview alongside close pal and colleague King, 66-year-old Myers revealed he was also diagnosed with anorexia during treatment for his unspecified form of cancer after the illness impacted his eating.
During a chat with his long-term co-star on BBC’s The Hairy Bikers Go West, King asked for an update on Myers’ condition and how his diet had changed.
“So, how’s your eating habits changed in the last year or so mate? Because you’ve had it pretty rough,” the 57-year-old probed.
“Well, you lose weight – a lot of weight. You’re desperately trying to get the calories in,” the presenter explained.

Reflecting on his tough journey, he went on: “And it’s hard, it’s really hard. And at one point, I was actually diagnosed as anorexic, can you believe it?
“After all the dieting we’ve done to keep underweight. But yeah, I’m doing alright now and living with it and my weight’s stable.”
“So whatever I’m doing I’ll carry on with it,” he told his visibly concerned colleague, who agreed: “Absolutely mate, absolutely.”
King reflected on the joy of being able to reunite with Myers for the new series following the turbulent time he has been through in the last couple of years.

He explained: “Dave is a west coast lad and we had a blast visiting some of his old haunts and our favourite places.
“Our focus, and particularly Dave’s focus, was to get out on the bike, to start the process of filming and to bring a level of normality back for him, his family, for me, for the crew, and that’s what he worked towards and that’s what got him through that particular portion of his treatment.”
Speaking to the BBC, he continued: “It was so joyous because it’s Dave’s neck of the woods, it was great to visit some old haunts that we’d frequented both prior to the bikers as well as during the numerous series we’ve produced together.”
It’s not the first time the pair have discussed the importance of food throughout Myers’ treatment journey.

During a TV interview last year, Myers shared how cooking brought him close with the nurses who have been taking care of him in hospital.
While discussing his latest book, Ultimate Comfort Food, he told The One Show viewers back in October that the recipes are “from all over the world”.
He shared: “We work the recipes up but there’s one from a Spanish nurse which is like everyday paella but it’s with belly pork and black pudding.”
He later added: “There’s a Filipino nurse, a beautiful lady called Gia, and Gia makes these Filipino noodle dish she brings into the hospital and when I was having trouble eating, she’d bring me the noodles.”
