Tesco reduces price of over 150 popular supermarket items by 12.5%

Tesco has announced it is slashing the price of more than 150 of its most popular everyday items.

The supermarket is cutting the cost of many products by an average of 12.5 per cent which may well help families with their weekly shop.

Among the supermarket’s items which have been reduced in price include:

  • Tesco Strawberries (227g) – reduced by 30p to £2.00
  • Tesco Blueberries (250g) – reduced by 35p to £2.65
  • Tesco British Pork Sausages (8 pack 454g) – reduced by 30p to £2.00
  • Tesco Large pineapple (each) – reduced by 50p to £1.30
  • Tesco Gold Instant Coffee (200g) – reduced by 50p to £2.50
  • Tesco Squeezy Clear Honey (340g) – reduced by 24p to £1.25
  • Tesco Honey Nut Cornflakes – reduced by 25p to £1.25
  • Tesco Bolognese Pasta Sauce (500g) – reduced by 16p to £0.79
  • Tesco Sugarsnap Peas (180g) – reduced by 20p to £1.10
  • Tesco Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce (420g) – reduced by 5p to 45p.

As well as cutting prices, Tesco has reiterated its commitment to locking prices in place for more than 1,000 items until Easter 2024.

Ashwin Prasad, Tesco Group’s chief commercial officer, Ashwin Prasad, cited the cost of the holiday season as to why supermarket is reducing prices now.

He said: “After the expense of Christmas, January can really stretch family budgets and families are looking for great value more than at any other time.

“By focusing our price cuts on truly popular items, customers will find it’s even easier to spend less at Tesco.”

Outside of price cuts, the supermarket is also bringing back its Kids East Free scheme across its 314 locations with cafés.

Between February 12 to February 23, families with young children will be able to get free meals for their little ones.

To be entitled to this scheme, the paying adult must present their Clubcard and spend a minimum of 60p in the café.
